Teething, hands down, has been the biggest curve ball we’ve faced as parents. When it comes to parenting, just as you’ve learned the perfect routine, everything changes.
Of course Aliceana’s teeth have been coming in as pairs, so it’s been a double whammy every time. Our adorable happy baby disappears and is replaced with a always cranky baby. Oh, and her perfect sleep schedule, that disappears along with teething too.
We’ve developed a pretty decent system to keep her content when teething, and I figured I’d share what helped us. I know every teething baby is completely different, but if this can help even one parent get through the teething process a little easier, it will be worth writing.

I’m a huge fan of these products. They’re homeopathic and 100% natural. They definitely help Aliceana manage the pain, and they even help her go down for a nap. They dissolve under the tongue, and she actually loves taking these now. She sees the little bottle and opens her mouth, so they must taste good too. These are a life saver, the price may seem a little steep, but one bottle lasts a very long time! I buy mine at Target (next to the diaper creams).
2. Bright Start Chill & Teethe teethers
These are by far the best teethers I’ve found. I keep them in the refrigerator so they’re cool when she uses them. They have little raised sections that feel good on her teeth. The best part? These are easy for her to grasp, even before she was a pro at holding things. Most teethers I found were impossible for her to hold the first time she went through teething. You can find these at Target in the toy section, they’re a steal at about $3!
Our biggest problem with teething was the gas that came with, as odd as that sounds. Every night like clock work Aliceana would wake up at 11 P.M. and stay up until 2 A.M. It was definitely rough on us. We found that if we gave her colic tablets right before bed she would sleep through the night. A little miracle for sure! Just like the teething tablets; they’re 100% natural, easy to use, and Aliceana loves taking them. I also buy these from Target, they’re either by the teething tablets in the aisle with diaper creams or in one of the aisles near the pharmacy, it seems like these switch locations pretty often at our store.
4. Gas relief drops
We’ve been using these almost as long as we’ve had Aliceana home. If she ever has issues with gas these work wonders. They do take a little bit to kick in though. I like that these can be mixed with her bottles, but she’ll take them pretty easily right out of the dropper too. If the colic tablets don’t work I definitely recommend these. They can be found at Target near the pharmacy for less than $4 a bottle.
5. Toast!
Yes, toast. As ridiculous as it sounds, toast was the best tool in the battle against teething. The rough texture made her gums feel a whole lot better. It also helped a little with her gas issues, we had to stop giving her vegetables and other things that gave her gas around dinner time, so toast definitely came to the rescue. Even if you’re not Baby Led Weaning, toast might still be a good option if you’re really struggling with teething. After all, toast was the first food that we gave Aliceana, it’s a pretty easy first food for your little one. Obviously do some research before feeding your little ones solids though, and you probably want to ask your doctor before hand too!
Obviously you shouldn’t use all three medications that I listed at once, use them as directed by your doctor and at your own discretion.
Of course I couldn’t find a picture of Aliceana flashing her 6 teeth, but I’ll share a cute picture anyway!
I hope this helps at least someone! These items have definitely helped us out!
