Fakesgiving is that magical time of year where we make a ton of food and take lots of pictures of said food for our blog and make our friends very happy! This year was our second Fakesgiving and it looks like it is well on its way to becoming an annual tradition.
In order to meet holiday posting deadlines for recipe posts we need to make these recipes ahead of time before the actual holiday. So we are left with a table full of food that we always need help eating. So we invite some friends over and have a great time enjoying all the awesome recipes.
This year we had a couple new recipes to try and everything turned out great again. We had an oven ready turkey from Jennie o that comes in a bag and goes right from the freezer into the oven and is ready in 4 hours! I was skeptical about the process but once it was done I had a hard time getting it out of its oven bag because it was so tender and juicy that it was falling apart.
I made a savory maple butternut squash that turned out awesome, it was the first time that I have made squash savory instead of sweet. We also had garlic mashed potatoes and corn bread stuffing from Trader Joes, as well as our famous spicy garlic parmesan roasted green beans. Of course there was pumpkin pie with our four ingredient flaky pie crust for dessert and some home made old fashions to start off with.
The title of this holiday might be Fakesgiving but the food, drink, and friendship were very real, and so were the extremely full stomachs!
I am the husband of the Geek and the beard behind the blog! I really enjoy writing about my family and all of my interests. I will be sharing everything from great grilling recipes to the perfect beer for the season.
