DIY Famous Couples Print

DIY Famous Couples Print

If you’re still looking for a last minute gift for your special someone; this is an awesome, quick, and easy DIY project. I made this a couple years ago and we still have it proudly hanging in our dining room. It’s a fun conversation starter too, people are always trying to figure out where the famous couples are from

All you’ll need is:
Cardstock
Printer
Pretty frameBasic knowledge of your significant other’s favorite movies, books, and video games.

1. First step, do a little research. Start with your significant other’s favorite books, movies, or video games. Then find out the names of the couples in the book, movie, or videogame. Make sure to include characters that are special to you as a couple! Pick about 12-15 or more, you might not use them all, but it’s better to have extra than not enough. Google will help with this, but be careful or you might make a silly mistake and find a couple that never actually existed. So make sure you can confirm that it’s a real couple and not something someone came up with in fanfiction or something (if you don’t know what fanfiction is you can thank your lucky stars haha). I did this project a couple years ago at 3 AM on a night where I had a little bit of insomnia, so one of the couples on this list is wrong, but I kept it the way it is (mostly because I’m lazy).2. Open the program you want to use. At the time I used word, but you could use Photoshop or another program if you wanted, it might be easier.

3. Figure out the color scheme and font you want to use. I used grey and green, grey to match the silver frame I was using and green because our plan was to paint our living room green (still hasn’t happened 3 years later). The font I used was Rockwell Extra Bold, I just liked how chunky the font was.

4. Add your couples! I tried to organize it so short names weren’t next to long names so it would add some variety. You also want to prioritize so you use the couples that are most important first, chances are all the names you came up with won’t fit.

This is how it looked in Word when I made it.
5. Print and frame your masterpiece!
That wasn’t too hard was it? I think we will probably keep ours in our house forever. As we grow as a couple I know I could add a lot more names and have a completely new list, it would be fun to update this every few years to see how your interests have changed!
DIY Famous Couples print, perfect for wedding gift for geeky or pop culture loving newlyweds.

Probably, and it only takes about 20 minutes to make and most of that time is deciding which famous couples to use!

How did you get everything to line up so nicely?

I just played with different font sizes on each line, and had the text centered. If you use photoshop you could use the “Free Transform” option under “edit” as long as each couples name is a different layer that would work really well.

Hi Brittany! How did you manage to use different size fonts and get them to spread the lettering over the whole page? It’s probably something simple, but I just can work it out. I have done one using Word but it’s center aligned and doesn’t go to the end of the page. I want it to look like yours, like it has been printed. Many thanks – Annika

Just change the font sizes until they fit perfectly, you might have manually type in the font sizes to get the perfect alignment. I hope that helps. Let me know if you’re still having issues!
